After a few years of wondering what Toyota would add to its growing lineup of GR-branded sports cars, we finally have our answer: the first-ever, all-new, red-hot GR Corolla. With 300 horsepower and a manual transmission only, this hot hatch is an enthusiast’s dream come true.
Under the hood, the new Toyota GR Corolla features a turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine rated at 300 ponies and 273 lb-ft of torque. Yes, that means it cranks out an impressive 100 horsepower per cylinder. Expect to have a lot of fun in this little car.
Better yet, the GR Corolla sends power to all four wheels using an advanced all-wheel-drive system developed for rally racing. It gives you the choice of 60/40, 50/50, and 30/70 power distribution between the front and rear axles, meaning it will be easy to find grip in just about any situation.
The new GR Corolla will be built on the same production line that was once responsible for the Lexus LFA supercar. It will be offered at just a single trim level with loads of standard features such as a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, Michelin® Pilot Sport 4 tires, and Toyota Safety Sense™ 3.0, a next-gen suite of advanced driver assistance systems.
